Home improvement spending is on the rise; over the past decade, the industry has expanded to over $574 billion in size. While individual household renovation budgets dipped in 2024 and are expected to decline again in 2025, overall national spending is still increasing, supported by major projects like roofing, kitchens and bathrooms. The market is also seeing steady business growth, a rising number of remodeling companies and increasing participation of women in construction.
At the same time, design trends for 2025 show a shift toward natural, calming and functional living spaces. Experts say homeowners want better storage, earthy palettes and stronger indoor–outdoor connections, reflecting a desire for both practicality and wellness. Exterior updates, like garage and entry door replacements, continue to offer the highest ROI, while interior preferences lean toward spa-inspired bathrooms, mixed materials and nature-influenced aesthetics.
