The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA) wraps up 2025 with continued advocacy efforts as the voice of the Lumber and Building Material industry.
Recently they supported the Credit Card Competition Act. This Bipartisan effort would promote competition in the credit card market by requiring the nation’s largest issuing banks to enable at least two unaffiliated payment networks on each credit card, giving merchants a meaningful choice in how transactions are routed. NLBMDA highlighted to legislative members the impact of escalating swipe fees on lumber and building material dealers and the customers they serve. NLBMDA wrote in a letter, the importance of reforms that would lower costs and allow businesses to reinvest in their employees and communities.
Throughout this year and new administration the NLBMDA navigated the evolving trade agreement on tariffs on lumber and building materials imports. Their advocacy extends to their support of the Fix Our Forests Act. They will continue to champion in the new year for extended pro-business and growth oriented tax provisions. As well as gaining support for the Affordable Housing Credit Improvement Act (AHCIA), legislation that would significantly increase the supply of housing in the United States.
