Remodel of the Week: Historic Lake Geneva

Facing Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, a Greek Revival facade underwent a remodel and addition to blend modern needs with its historic charm. The project, in collaboration with En Masse Architecture and Abrams Valenti Interiors completely revitalized the underused property by modernizing the layout and upgrading fixtures. While the home has underwent other remodels, the layout of the 4,000-square-foot home, did not align with the new owners’ lifestyle.

The kitchen and the dining room were relocated to better connect with the outdoors and add a private terrace. The new scullery allows for separation of the entertaining apecet of the kitchen from big appliances. It also holds an essential for the owners, a smoothie bar. The cabinets are an elevated shade of green and continue from the main area to the scullery. Gold fixtures complement this aesthetic.

The team decided to maximize the stunning views of the lake with by fixing the two-story screened porches were with bi-folding Italian windows and sliding screens. This change to invites indoor-outdoor living, inviting in views of Lake Geneva and natural breezes into the daily life of the home. To keep much of the home’s classic character, the original woodwork remained in tact. This remodel successfully bridges historic style while elevating comfortability and modern elements.
