Bathroom design trends are constantly changing; trends shift with time and most homeowners are looking to renovate spaces for long-term living. Designers are starting to see homeowners renovate their bathrooms, one of the most used and personal spaces of the home, with functionality and personalization in mind, rather than following trending designs.
The once-popular sleek, all-white bathroom design now feels cold and sterile. Instead, homeowners are looking to renovate their bathrooms to feel more lived-in, softer and personal. Similar to the all-white bathroom design, the all-gray look that once made a home feel earthy and luxurious now emits the opposite.
“The biggest shift we’re seeing is people moving away from bathrooms that feel overly polished, sterile and trend-driven and toward spaces that feel warmer, more personal and actually connected to the rest of the home,” said Ann Marie Winkler, co-founder and designer at Huron Interiors.
Winkler said that the black trim and white subway tile combination is another design trend that is becoming outdated. Most clients are shifting away from trending designs and towards a bathroom look that feels entirely their own.
