MSK Design Build undertook a comprehensive renovation of a 1997 executive home in Ruby Hill, Pleasanton, California, transforming it into a modern luxury residence. The clients, a professional couple with two children, aimed to replace the outdated pink-and-floral interior with a contemporary design suitable for both family living and entertaining. Key objectives included creating an open-plan kitchen and great room, converting a formal dining room into an elegant bar and games area, and replacing a powder room with a wine room featuring a waterfall. The design team, led by Kelly Morisseau and Scott Westby, embraced a “Milan-meets-Vegas” aesthetic, incorporating sleek, custom features throughout the home.
The renovation encompassed every room, introducing a floating kitchen island, custom hood, and a 23-foot La Cantina door to enhance indoor-outdoor living. Structural updates included the installation of 22 new piers and the removal of dated architectural elements like arches and columns. The primary suite was upgraded with heated tile floors, a modern fireplace, and a spa-like bathroom featuring a freestanding tub and chromatherapy shower. Additional enhancements included new ensuite bathrooms for the children, a redesigned bonus room, and a functional laundry area with chevron glass-tiled walls. The result is a luxurious, family-friendly home that seamlessly blends modern design with practical living spaces.
