New research from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) 2025 Member Census shows that residential remodeling accounts for an estimated 21% of NAHB builder members’ primary business.
The report also notes that a majority of remodeling firms have a median of five employees and generate median annual revenue of $2.1 million. This is a 24% increase compared to 2024’s $1.7 million median annual revenue.
“Almost a quarter of residential remodelers (23%) reported a dollar volume of less than $500,000 in 2025, 13% reported between $500,000 and $999,999, 52% (majority) between $1.0 and $4.9 million, 9% between $5.0 and $9.9 million, 2% between $10.0 million and $14.9 million and another 1% reported $15.0 million or more,” said Eric Lynch, economist in survey research group for NAHB. “Less than 0.5% reported zero business activity in 2025.”
